Problem Statement

The existing consultation scheduling system lacks the efficiency and sorting of patients based on severity of patient's case.

The problem exists for patients when they want an immediate attention from the doctors, but due to the inefficient consultation scheduling system often it gets delayed.

Project Overview

A new patient consultation  platform with better scheduling system.

Duration

April 2020 - Present

(Currently in developing stage.)

My role

The problem exists for both the patients and doctors during handling the consultations and scheduling of the appointments.

For patients, the one with serious health issues wants to be looked after sooner than the other patients with minimal health problem.

Building a application for Triatica UK Pvt. Ltd., which provides efficient consultation services along with advanced triage scheduling system resulting in smooth transition of patients.

Working with a team of five members,

undertook the user research principles. Conducted interviews and creating user flows & wireframes.

Contributed in UI through branding and interface design of screens for the application.

Solution

Proposal

A single platform for all the roles - patients, doctors, clinic admins involved during patient-doctor consultation. Solving the problem which exists for doctors, often they end up undertaking numerous consultations in a single day.

Among which few of them could have been handled just by sharing few medicines via a prescription. This lead to the need of a proper triage oriented scheduling system which will help solve the problem of appointments for patients and doctors both.

Strategy

The Process

The process involved ideation sessions with the involved team of clinics and doctors and identifying problems faced by them during the consultations of the patients.

Followed by conducting surveys of the target users which helped us understand the difficulties and coming up with unique and efficient solutions.

Based on the research we worked on the user flows for the application, followed by creating wireframes using the flow. Upon finalizing the branding theory for the application, we designed final UI screens.

Problem Identification

The very first step of the project started with the team of professional healthcare workers, by identifying the problem faced during consultations and where the existing system lacks.

User Research

Conducting Surveys

Conducted a user survey with a healthcare workers from a clinic based in UK. It included doctors from different departments and clinic admins who had various roles, to understand the roles and responsibility everyone has. These surveys helped us frame our functionalities of the application based on outcomes of user survey.

On-line Surveys

Through online survey, we were able to reach to large number of people to get familiar with their daily tasks and routines. This helped us understand, where our team's focus is needed on to provide efficient solutions for their tasks.

Offline Surveys

Through offline survey by conducting user interviews, we took their views on the tasks performed by them and where they face most difficulties in. Through the interviews we were able to user behavior and responses to how they use the application.

Research Outcomes

In-depth research via ideation sessions with health care workers and patients help us understand the requirements and functioning of the consultation services.

The survey gave us results which helped us formulate a unique triage system for scheduling of appointments for the patients based on the priority of sudden requirement.

To make the job of managing appointments for the clinic admins was found to be typical and hectic. Rescheduling and cancelling appointments were among many existing problems faced by them.

Healthcare services plays a vital role in providing necessary consultation services for people of all age-groups. Thus, the proposed interface design should simple and minimal including all the required functionalities.

User Journey

User Flow Mapping

Once the product requirements were finalized, we started to work on the flow on the basis of prioritizing the functionalities for the application. The complete user journey was mapped according to the respective menu options. A separate user flow was created for doctors, patients and clinic admins which included different functionalities and features.
